ABOUT ME
I've enjoyed a long career in movie advertising as an award-winning creative director/producer of hundreds of movie trailers and TV spots for movies including Ocean’s Eleven, Inception, The Hangover, The Dark Knight Rises, Mad Max: Fury Road and Wonder Woman, along with TV promo work.
Over the years I have directed innumerable VO sessions with a lot of very talented people. I enjoy passing on my knowledge and insight, and have been working with many VO professionals doing individual coaching and consulting. I also offer small Zoom workshops and will occasionally produce trailer demos for people I've worked with.
PRIVATE COACHING
Individual coaching sessions are available seven days a week via Zoom.
Initially, I will discuss how trailer and promo differ and also how to best compete when sending in undirected auditions.
Will focus on tone, voice quality, inflection, phrasing and versatility working in all genres, along with researching the project, determining the audience and breaking down the script. Focus will be on reading trailer and promo scripts from all genres to perfect the reads and gain confidence, since self-direction is very often required in this arena. Will cover how movie advertising VO differs from television promo, plus where streaming fits in. Also a few insights into what a trailer/promo producer looks for, what goes on behind the scenes and how to use that information to your advantage.
TRAILER/PROMO WORKSHOPS
I occasionally schedule 3-hour Zoom workshops, limited to 6 participants. During that time, we cover a lot of ground: how the VO decisions are made, how to best audition to gain an edge over the competition, how to self-direct, and general insights into the trailer and promo VO world. There will be about two hours where everyone gets to read multiple takes of scripts of their choosing, with some in-depth feedback and direction. People seem to really enjoy these sessions and find them very useful.
TRAILER DEMO PRODUCTION
I produce trailer demos for coaching students and others I feel will be able to make good use of them. The team includes an editor and a sound engineer to create the final audio mix. More information on demos is available upon request.
